THE MODEL CONTEXT PROTOCOL (MCP) AND TOOL STANDARDS

Part 6 of 11

BENEFITS OF STANDARDIZATION The first benefit is reuse. One server can be plugged into many hosts and many models. The second is interoperability, which means different systems working together without custom glue. A company can switch from one model provider to another without rewriting its integrations. The third is a growing ecosystem, which means a developer can often find a ready-made server for a need. The fourth is separation of concerns. The people who understand a system, such as the database team, build and maintain its server, while the people building agents simply use it. The fifth is consistency for safety teams, since logging, permissions, and approvals can be applied in one standard place across all connected tools.
