KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT FOR AGENTS
Part 1 of 9
LEARNING GOALS
Retrieval gets knowledge to an agent.
Knowledge management is the broader craft of creating, organizing, packaging, and maintaining that knowledge so the agent can use it well over time.
In this chapter, you will learn about knowledge bases and structured project documents, skills, external notes and scratchpads, and how to keep knowledge fresh.
THE WELL-RUN OFFICE PICTURE
Imagine a new employee starting at an office.
In a badly run office, she gets no documentation, and she must interrupt coworkers all day to learn how things are done.
In a well-run office, there is a clear handbook, a folder of templates, a shared notebook of what has been tried, and a rule that the handbook is reviewed each year.
She becomes productive quickly and makes fewer mistakes.
An AI agent is a new employee at the start of every single run, because it remembers nothing by itself.
So knowledge management is, in effect, the job of running a well-organized office for your agents.
