KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT FOR AGENTS
Part 9 of 9
CHECK YOUR UNDERSTANDING
• Why is a single project conventions file valuable?
◦ Answer: Every agent reads the same rules first, so none must guess or rediscover them, and updates happen in one place.
• What does a skill bundle together?
◦ Answer: Instructions, required fields, formatting rules, examples, and sometimes templates or scripts, packaged for reuse.
• How does a scratchpad help during context compaction?
◦ Answer: The notes remain intact outside the context window, so important details and progress are not lost when older messages are summarized.
• Why are pricing facts reviewed more often than a company history?
◦ Answer: Prices change quickly, and stale prices cause visible harm, while historical facts rarely change.
• Name two practices that keep a knowledge base fresh.
◦ Answer: Record last-updated dates and owners, and flag entries for review on a schedule, or link to live sources and re-index after changes.
PART TWELVE: FRAMEWORKS, STANDARDS, AND THE TOOLING ECOSYSTEM
Part Twelve steps back from the inside of a single harness and looks at the world around it.
Over the last several parts you learned how to build the pieces of a harness yourself.
Now you will learn what ready-made help exists, so that you do not have to build everything from nothing.
Chapter 49 surveys agent frameworks, which are reusable code libraries for building agents.
Chapter 50 explains standards and conventions, which are shared agreements that let different tools work together.
Chapter 51 covers platforms and managed services, which are products you can rent instead of building.
Chapter 52 tours the open-source landscape, which is the large public pool of free, shareable work.
One warning applies to this entire part.
The names, features, and popularity of specific products change quickly, sometimes within a few months.
So this part teaches you the categories and the decision-making skills, and uses product names only as examples.
Always check the current documentation of any product before you rely on it.
