THE OPEN-SOURCE LANDSCAPE

Part 2 of 9

CURATED RESOURCE LISTS FOR HARNESS ENGINEERING The open-source world is so large that finding things is a challenge of its own. A curated list is a collection of links to good resources, chosen and organized by people who care about the topic. Many are published as shared pages in public code-hosting sites, where volunteers keep adding and removing entries. A good list is like a map of a new city, showing you the main districts so you do not have to discover each street alone. Lists of this kind typically group entries into frameworks, tool libraries, evaluation suites, observability tools, example agents, and learning materials. Use a list in these ways. Start with the categories that match the layers of the harness you learned in Parts Three through Nine. Prefer entries that say what they do in plain language. Check the date of the last update on the list itself, since an abandoned list leads you to abandoned projects. Treat inclusion in a list as a hint, not a guarantee of quality or safety, because the curator may not have reviewed every entry deeply. Keep your own short notes about what you tried, because that notebook becomes a personal list that is tailored to your needs.
