PROJECT ONE - A MINIMAL HARNESS

Part 1 of 11

LEARNING GOALS By the end of this chapter you will be able to build the smallest working think, act, and observe loop. You will be able to build a tool registry that lists the tools an agent may use. You will be able to build a permission gate that keeps the agent inside the folders you allow. You will be able to add a step limit, a rough budget count, and a log, and then run and observe your first agent. MEET THE PRACTICE LAB This chapter begins the Practice Lab, a project that grows across Chapters 65 through 69. The lab is called the Resume Review Agent. It reads fictional resumes from a folder, compares each one with a fictional job posting, and writes a short match report for each resume. A resume is a one-page summary of a person's skills and work history, and a job posting is a short advertisement describing a job and the skills it needs. Every name, skill, and company in the lab is invented, so no real person's information is ever involved. Think of the lab as a practice kitchen in a cooking school. Nobody will eat the food, so you are free to burn a few dishes while you learn where the heat is. Every chapter in this book includes prompts that you can try on your own harness code, and this lab is the code you can try them on. It is also the place where you will practice finding the three planted problems described later in Part Sixteen.
