HOW TO USE THIS GLOSSARY This glossary lists, in alphabetical order, the terms and short forms used across the whole book. Where a term has a short form, the full name comes first and the short form follows in parentheses, so you always see what the letters stand for. Short forms also appear as their own entries that point you to the full name, so you can look up either one. Every definition is written for a complete beginner, so none of them assumes you already know the field. When a definition mentions another glossary term, you can look that term up in the same alphabetical list.
