PREPARING FOR CERTIFICATION

Part 9 of 13

CONTINUING EDUCATION AND RECERTIFICATION Passing an examination is a beginning. The field changes quickly, and what is current today may be outdated within a year. The certifying program will publish its own rules for keeping a credential current, and you should read them and mark the dates in your calendar. Whatever the rules say, a few habits keep you ready. Keep running and extending your lab, adding new tools and new attacks. Follow the weekly reading routine from Chapter 71. Write short design documents about real decisions. Read the primary sources in Appendix F, always checking the date. Teach someone else, since explaining a concept is the best test of knowing it.
