APPENDIX H: RESUME PORTFOLIO BUILDING CAPSTONE PROJECTS

Part 17 of 56

WHAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CLAIM AFTERWARDS You built a context manager that estimates the size of the conversation and compacts it when a limit is crossed. You built a persistent notes file that lets an agent resume after a stop without repeating finished work. You wrote tests proving that compaction happens and that a restarted run rereads fewer documents than a fresh run. You separated what the model sees each turn from what is stored on disk, which is the heart of context engineering. Do not claim that you built a memory system that understands documents, because the mock extracts a marked fact line and nothing more. SKILLS PRACTICED Understanding context as a scarce resource, covered in Chapter 18. Spotting context bloat and context rot, covered in Chapter 19. Building the context for each turn, covered in Chapter 20. Compaction and summarization, covered in Chapter 21. Memory and notes that outlive a single run, covered in Chapter 22 and Chapter 46. Starting and ending runs cleanly, covered in Chapters 23 and 26. Writing tests for a harness, covered in Chapter 35.
